Major stores set to show pupils the world of work

SCHOOLCHILDREN will swap the classroom for the shop floor as part of a new scheme to give pupils first-hand experience in business.
The West End Local Schools Programme was launched at Paddington Academy last week, and will see year 10 pupils from Westminster secondary schools invited into stores including Primark and John Lewis as well as renowned hotels The Cumberland and Hyatt Regency to get a taste of shopping from the other side of the counter.
The programme is being overseen by the New West End Company, which represents retailers in Oxford Street, Bond Street and Regent Street.
New West End Company chief executive Richard Dickinson said: “West End retailers really want to help their local communities. Our Local Schools Programme is a collective effort to encourage local school children’s potential and sees them take their first steps on the career path.”
