Digging in: Celebrities in plot for capital growth to counter effects of the recession

TENDING to the allotment was fashionable long before the Queen tried to mine some everyman PR out of it.
Rosie Boycott and celebrity chef Michel Roux Jr (pictured centre) and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall got in on the act, getting their fingers in the cabbage patch at a special Royal Parks allotment in St James’s Park. The pair were tilling the soil to encourage more people to grow their own veg.
Ms Boycott said: “I am delighted that The Royal Parks and Taste of London are supporting the Capital Growth scheme. Boosting the amount of locally grown food in London is hugely important… it will help to make London a greener, more pleasant place to live while providing healthy and affordable food.”
