Dedicated followers... Street swings back to 60s
CARNABY Street swung once more at the weekend for a new festival to celebrate the street’s 1960s heritage
Revival bands and go-go dancers set the mood for much twisting, jiving and retro fun as well as the requisite parade of Twiggy by way of Beatles-inspired fashion.
Scooters revved up and down the street, and a piano played sing-along favourites Hey Jude and Dedicated Follower of Fashion.
The two-day event, which also included a photography exhibition and fashion stands, was part of the Story of London, a month-long, city-wide initiative from the Mayor’s office to celebrate the past, present and future of the capital. |
