After-school help

AFTER-school clubs are being made available to 1,500 of the most disadvantaged children in the borough.
Schools chiefs have been awarded £100,000 to help youngsters in Queen’s Park, Westbourne Park and Harrow Road take part in clubs which can only usually be afforded by children from middle class families. Children receiving free school meals and those in care will be the main groups to benefit from the Department for Children, Schools and Families grant.
Michael O’Connor, Westminster City Council’s strategic director for young people, said: “We want every child to have the very best start in life and need to ensure children and their families don’t miss out on any opportunities.”
