Wok away with prize! Chinese masterchef

CELEBRITY chef Nancy Lam was among the judges at the Chinese Masterchef final held at the Westminster Kingsway College.
The event, now in its sixth year, showcased the five best talents from Chinatown and the rest of the capital who had qualified from a total of 33 restaurants.
Ms Lam, one of a panel of eight at last week’s event, said: “It is a very interesting competition as every restaurant has different techniques.
“It used to be much easier for them when they could bring their own food in, but now they have to do it from scratch.
“It is good for the competition that they start from the beginning and show what they can cook, not what they can bring in.”
Competitors were required to cook a lobster dish, a duck or venison dish, a fish dish and a vegetable dish.
After hours of slavish cooking, Andrew Wong from Kym’s restaurant in Victoria was crowned overall winner.
