West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 29 May 2009

Gallery visitors are able to sketch

I don’t know the truth about John Berger (pictured) and his clash with the National Gallery, but to say as Michael Mann does (Love in a time of bad and clumsy laws, May 22), “The gallery… doesn’t hold with punters who love paintings so much that they stop and sketch them” is, in my experience, rubbish.
I’ve sketched there many times without problems, and have seen others doing the same. Kenwood House, though: that’s a different story (unless it’s changed its policy).
Bob Davenport, WC1
