Campaigners' evidence: a delivery at the Tesco
Campaigners’ evidence: a delivery at the Tesco
Campaigners express dismay over Tesco store deliveries

CAMPAIGNERS have published photographs they say show Tesco delivery lorries flagrantly flouting council rules by parking in Lisson Grove.
Parking on the busy road was explicitly forbidden by planners when the store was approved.
A delivery bay behind the store in Hayes Place, where drivers are supposed to park, has been filled in.
Residents say the lorries are causing traffic pandemonium in the street used by commuters to cut across Marylebone Road from north London.
Liberal Democrat campaigner Martin Thompson said: “I live just around the corner from the Tesco Express, and I often see lorries parked in Lisson Grove, causing chaos. I am pleased that we have now taken a photo of them doing this.”
The campaigners also say Tesco owes the council £100,000, 18 months after planning permission was granted.
“Serious question marks now hang over this shop. First, the promised £100,000 is nowhere to be seen,” said Mr Thompson. “Now, Tesco seems to be ignoring the agreement it made not to make deliveries on Lisson Grove. And after promising to extend a delivery in Hayes Place, they seem to have filled it in.”
Westminster City Council’s director of transport Martin Low said: “A problem with the loading bay on Hayes Place means that as a temporary measure lorries have been loading and unloading on Lisson Grove. We acknowledge that this is a far from suitable solution and are working hard with Tesco to ensure this issue is resolved as quickly as possible and that disruption to residents is kept to a minimum.”
