Investment of £3.6m will pay for district nurses and support staff
NURSING has received a boost with the announcement of a £3.6million cash injection.
The investment will go towards recruiting an extra 80 staff including health care support workers and district nurses to improve services outside of hospitals.
Priorities include encouraging people to take up healthier lifestyles, prevention strategies, co-ordinating the care of patients with long-term conditions and improving access to services for elderly patients.
Primary care trust chief executive Michael Scott said: “Community nursing will be transformed under this programme to bring the most specialised hospital level care out to patients in their own homes.
“We will aim to recruit a number of the new staff from the Westminster area to build up community links and knowledge.
“This investment supports the theme of bringing care out of hospitals and closer to people’s homes, which is a major aim of NHS Westminster and Healthcare for London.”
The money will also be put towards improving liaison with GP practices and other social care services. |
