Olympic pains: St John and St Elizabeth is 2012 Team GB hospital
THE Olympics are coming to St John’s Wood.
Well, not quite, but the St John and St Elizabeth Hospital has been named as the official medical base for Britain’s athletes ahead of 2012.
As if NW8 doesn’t have enough celebrity residents, now star-spotters could see gold medal winners and Olympic hopefuls calling into the hospital in at Grove End Road for conditioning and treatment.
The private Catholic hospital was chosen for its central location and state-of-the-art facilities.
Claire Hornick, St John and St Elizabeth deputy chief executive, said that although Team GB medics will be on the coal-face of treatment, the hospital is still gearing up to provide support.
“The X-ray department are going to have a big input, so will physiotherapy and pathology. We’ll also be testing for things like asthma in our respiratory department,” she said. |
