Ricky Tomlinson outside the Lords
Ricky demands a Royle pardon

ACTOR Ricky Tomlinson was among protesters lobbying Parliament yesterday (Thursday) for a full pardon of the intimidation offences he was jailed for during flying picket actions in a 1972 strike.
Union activist Mr Tomlinson, who has starred in TV show The Royle Family, served a two-year sentence for conspiracy to intimidate and affray as one of the “Shrewsbury 24” during the national builders strike. He was joined in Westminster by Elsa Warren, widow of fellow inmate Des Warren, and 40 trade unionists in calling for a public inquiry and an investigation into the role of MI5 in the dispute.
“We were the victims of a state conspiracy, it was a political trial,”
Mr Tomlinson said outside the House of Lords.
