West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 6 March 2009

On ‘well-run’ brothels

• IT is very unclear to me from the letter (A question of disorder on streets? February 27) that the writer is not doing exactly that which is complained of, namely pontificating.

So there are many “well-run walk-up brothels” in Soho.
If that is so why aren’t the premises at the heart of the failed and unproven police anti-social behaviour op being accorded the same credit? The court decision clearly spelt out that anti-social behaviour was not taking place at that premises and that was the basis of the court’s decision.
Police alleged that for 16 years there had been an anti-social problem, but did not provide hard evidence which truly is pontificating and the unnamed letter-writer is revisiting the same unfair baggage on the premises in question.
The Reverend David Gilmore gave evidence that he had never ever seen any anti-social behaviour in the vicinity of the premises.
He was not pontificating and he was very local.
