West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 27 February 2009

Impinging on the hill

• THE size and scale of the proposed development right next to Primrose Hill by the exit to St Edmund’s Terrace is totally inappropriate for a parkside property (Flats to ‘impinge’ on Primrose Hill view, February 20).
The developers admit that it would “impinge” on the view from the top of the hill, but looking west from the village towards St John’s Wood it would be even more of a blight on the landscape.
Seven storeys creating the effect of a 30-metre high wall to the park is just unacceptable.
Your readers may also be interested to know that this development requires for a quotient of affordable homes to be provided, but the proposal is that these are built in a tower block in Camden, where the developers are looking to build an even bigger monolith which deserves an equally hostile response.
Mark Blackburn
Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate
