It may not pay you to struggle to work
through the snow

• WITH no buses running and sporadic Tube service, there’s a “duty of care” on an employer who says you must do everything possible to get to work in bad weather.
Should you suffer an accident trudging through ice and snow, a “no-win-no-fee” agency could reasonably support your case for compensation. Even if it is legal not to pay you for failing to attend work, loss of earnings, time off work, costs of treatment by the NHS and other factors may be considered.
It can be “reasonable” to say away. After all, we all have a “duty of care” and that may entail not attending work if it is hazardous to your health.
