Shopping pensioner hit by a bus

A PENSIONER is fighting for her life after being dragged along under the wheels of a bendy bus when she was hit stepping off the pavement in the middle of Oxford Street on Wednesday.
Witnesses told how the 64-year-old woman – who was laden down with Christmas shopping – was hit by the No73 bus outside Selfridges at around 1.30pm.
Police confirmed the woman was in hospital with serious head injuries, and are carrying out an investigation into the incident.
A Metropolitan police spokesman said: “She is lucky to be alive at this stage and is still in hospital.
“The bus didn’t mount the pavement and it looks like she just stepped out in front of the bus. There have been no arrests.”
Oxford Street was brought to a standstill, with five buses cordoned off by the road closure.
