West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

• I ADMIRE those who were courageous enough to speak out about the situation in Bethlehem (Jewish group under fire over protest carols, November 28).

Having just returned, I can confirm harassment and discrimination is something that people of conscience should oppose, speak and indeed shout about. Singing seems too gentle and polite. The situation in Gaza is cruelty and punishment beyond belief. Separate roads for Palestinians and Israelis, families not allowed to live in the same towns without permits, differentials in water, rubbish collection, electricity and so on are clear indicators of an apartheid state. Forget the myth about democracy, just check out the lists of discriminatory laws.
If only all church leaders had the courage to speak the truth. Shame on you all that it takes a Jewish group who are prepared to take action to highlight the real situation to stir up the church.
