Charlie’s an angel:
Haircut for charity raises £1,600
WHEN eight-year-old Charlie Frost spotted a disabled boy on a
Butlins holiday, her immediate reaction was: “How can I help?”
Her mother, Julie, said the best way is to donate to charities and as soon as they got home her daughter set about on a fundraising mission on the Tatchbrook Peabody estate in Victoria.
By Monday, after just two weeks, she had amassed £1,600 for Children in Need after agreeing to cut 28 inches off her prized, super-long golden hair.
She said: “I was a bit frightened to have my hair cut but I am really happy to be helping other children.
“I asked my mum when I was seven if I could cut my hair but she said no. When I saw the Children in Need advertisement on
television I asked mum again if I could cut my hair but raise some
money too. Mum said yes, because it was a good thing.”
Clumps of her hair have been given to the Little Princess Trust, who will use it to make hair pieces and wigs for children with cancer.
Ms Frost said: “It’s the first time Charlie has had such a hands-on approach to charitable fundraising. I am really chuffed. I’d like to say a big thank you to every single person who has generously donated money to this worthy cause.” |
