PENSIONER WHO TOOK ON KILLER

Man jailed for life after vicious street attack on woman, 71

A BRAVE pensioner who was attacked in the street by a convicted killer has told how she feared she was going to die.

Dirce Ganci, 71, said she was relieved that Simon Wilson had been given a “life means life” sentence for the assault after it emerged he had already served 16 years in an Australian jail for murder.
His criminal past, which includes six rapes, was revealed at a hearing at Blackfriars Crown Court on Friday.
Ms Ganci fought back when he ambushed her in a Bloomsbury street near her home in April.
Wilson, 50, was only released from prison in January and deported to London because he spent the first two years of his life in the United Kingdom and never took Australian citizenship.
Ms Ganci waived her anonymity to tell the New Journal: “It is a miracle I am still alive.”
