Soho clean-up continues

A SOHO cinema showing pornographic films has closed after failing to convince council chiefs it should have a permanent license.
Sunset Cinema in Brewer Street had its license revoked last summer but stayed open on an expensive temporary six-month agreement that has now expired.
Councillor Daniel Astaire, cabinet member for community protection, said: “This cinema was a focal point for undesirables and the council rightfully revoked the licence last August, primarily because of concerns over crime and disorder including alleged drug taking.”
The closure brings to an end a council drive to clean up Soho that saw a DVD factory raided and closed last month and £1million of illegal pornographic films were set on fire.
Two hostess bars have also been closed.
