West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 11 July 2008

Music in park and square

• I AM grateful to Brian Girling for his enduring comments regarding the parties in Trafalgar Square (No to show-stoppers, July 4).
Another weekend, another pop band or two if you like – and this is only the beginning.
This does not take into account the numerous pop concerts conveniently arranged in Hyde Park from Thursday to Sunday on a more than regular basis, the sounds of which drown out any idea of a quiet day out in one of London’s finest parks.
Do those who frequent these areas show any consideration for others not of the same opinion?
How about it Westminster Council? Do you play any part in the arranging of these parties in the park and elsewhere on such a regular basis?
It is really no hiding place for we “moaning minnies”, is it not?
Why should we, as has been suggested, avoid the areas in question?
Trafalgar Square was surely never really intended as a place to hold pop parties.
I Walker
