West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 11 July 2008

Macho spin

• SO Westminster City Council is opposed to bin-snooping but in favour of every other kind. (‘We will defy government,’ July 4).
The macho posturing by Councillor Colin Barrow in your front page story is both incoherent and laughably transparent.
After the bedroom-snooping revelations (Parking CCTV ‘snooped in on bedroom,’ June 27) it is obviously a desperate attempt by some PR guru to dispel the notion that Cllr Barrow in any way supports his CCTV operators and is cunningly designed to show us what toughies he and his men are.
Having replaced a man presently working with the new London mayor, Cllr Barrow is clearly intent on upholding the Westminster tradition of applying the lubrication of PR in tight situations in the hope that it will distract us from things going on behind our backs. How stupid does he think we are?
