Mice found in kitchen at top restaurant
A TOP restaurant has been hit with a £5,000 fine after a mice infestation was discovered.
Health and safety inspectors discovered mice and droppings in the kitchens at Inn The Park restaurant in St James' Park in November 2006.
The restaurant, owned by Oliver Peyton, who also runs the Dining Rooms at the National Gallery, opened to rave reviews in 2004.
It reopened after a temporary closure following the inspection.
Richard Block, a health and safety inspector at Westminster council said: “These are extremely serious food hygiene contraventions. Mice were running around the kitchen and corridors.
“Operators of all restaurants – however high profile – must take personal responsibility to ensure their business complies with the law.”
A restaurant spokesperson said: “We would stress that this was an isolated incident in 2006 and we have rectified it and now have a clean bill of health.”
Management pleaded guilty to five offences at Westminster Magistrates Court. |
