West End Extra - by JAMIE WELHAM
Published: 21 March 2008

St Patrick’s Day revellers make it a green party to remember

LARGE crowds flocked to a windswept Trafalgar Square on Sunday for the annual St Patrick’s Day celebrations.
Neither the driving rain nor the rugby result could dampen the spirits of the 1,000-strong green and white army who amassed in the square and jigged the afternoon away.
Among the performers were Roisin Murphy and guitar legend Joe Brown who put in performances to bring the spirit of the Emerald Isle to the West End and warm up the weather-beaten crowd. There were croaky voices and a few casualties to the oceans of Guinness, but all went home counting down the days until the next Irish knees-up.
