Keyring gunman facing prison
A GUNMAN who struck in a West End nightspot is facing a life sentence after being branded a career criminal by a leading prosecutor.
Moments after chatting in the trendy bar to a sister of footballer David Beckham, the man, Muziwakhe Skosana, used a tiny pistol on a keyring to shoot his target.
Skosana, son of a South African prison boss, had a sinister way of life, barrister Jason Dunn-Shaw told the Old Bailey.
The jury this week rejected his claim of mistaken identity and convicted him on charges of wounding and having a firearm. He is due to be sentenced next month.
Mr Dunn-Shaw revealed that Joanne Beckham was among a host of VIPs at the Astor Bar and Grill, off Piccadilly, where City worker Michael Henry sustained a near-fatal injury.
Skosana, 24, of Garrick Court, Edgware, had gone to the basement club, where a table cost £500 to reserve, and shot Mr Henry, 26, at point blank range following an altercation with other clubbers.
Skonsa was arrested by armed police in November last year, a month after the shooting, during a 3am raid on his flat.
Officers found thousands of pounds in his bedroom and in a safe deposit box there were bundles of banknotes, forms for birth certificates, a latex glove and a single black glove with firearms residue on it. |
