West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 28 September 2007

Cyclists giving us a rough ride

• LONG overdue in this country is a system whereby cyclists can be registered, perhaps by means of number plates.
If such a scheme can be implemented in certain countries in the Far East, then why not in Britain?
We are, after all, being constantly reminded how ID cards and other identification schemes will help cut crime and make us all feel safer.
Pavement cycling has now reached epidemic proportions, as has the irritating habit of some cyclists riding through traffic signals and frightening pedestrians.
Abusive cycling of this kind should not be tolerated.
If the proposed cycle track through Regent’s Park goes ahead, there will be yet more cyclists around.
