Hunt for rare clock
A MARBLE clock that has served a series of US Presidents in the White House has been stolen from an antiques dealer in Belgravia.
The very rare 18th century timepiece – dubbed the Minerva Clock after the goddess of wisdom – is worth more than £400,000. The suspect, pictured, is on the run from Belgravia detectives after antiques dealer Hotspur in Lowndes Street reported it missing on August 22.

The Latin inscription, from Virgil’s Aeneid, translates: “For everyone the time of life is short and irrecoverable but to spread one’s fame by deeds, this is a work of virtue.”
Measuring 47cm tall it has been described as “magnificent” and “very rare”.
Detective Sergeant Archibald said: “I would also like to ask dealers and proprietors of antique stores to keep a look out for this very distinctive clock.”
