A ‘terrific achievement’ for the small faces in Carnaby Street
CARNABY Street was swung back to the 1960s yesterday, as a plaque was unveiled in tribute to mod legends The Small Faces.
Kenney Jones, the band’s drummer, who unveiled the plaque with Westminster councillor Robert Davis, paid tribute to his former bandmates as well as influential producer Don Arden, who passed away earlier in the summer and who is also commemorated on the plaque.
Mr Jones said: ‘To honour the Small Faces after all these years is a terrific achievement.
“I only wish that Steve Marriott, Ronnie Lane and the late Don Arden were here to enjoy this moment with me.’
The drummer was joined by David Arden, Don Arden’s son and brother of his estranged daughter Sharon Osbourne. as well as many fans who turned out, some in full mod regalia, to pay homage to the band.
