Plans for Fitzrovia slammed

REVISED plans to demolish a building in the Fitzrovia conservation area have been submitted to the Town Hall.
The Charlotte Street Association has registered strong objections to an application to build a five-storey block of luxury flats in 11-13 Goodge Street.
They claim the designs are “run of the mill”, “bitty and confused” and out of character with the rest of the street.
The original proposal, from developers Goodge Street Properties Ltd, was in March spiked when planning chiefs realised the six one-bed flats “had no external light or ventilation to the bedrooms”.
The claustrophobic, windowless bedrooms failed to meet council standards.
The revised plans – with light and air vents in the bedrooms – now “responds sensitively to the architectural character of the conservation area”, according to planning chiefs.
The council has recommended the plans get the go-ahead in a council meeting today (Thursday).
