A-level results a ‘record’
PUPILS of Quintin Kynaston school in St John’s Wood celebrated record A-level results yesterday (Thursday).
Among them was Marcel Sakleddire, 19, who despite speaking English as a second language, scored high enough grades to win a business studies place at the University of Westminster.
Mr Sakleddire, a former pupil of Paddington Green who came to Westminster from Beirut when he was seven years old, said a pioneering internship scheme at QK had helped boost his confidence. He said: “I really enjoyed QK. It gave me the chance to do a six-week internship at Credit Suisse in the City. It really motivated me and made me work really hard.
“My grades changed from Es and Ds to Bs and As. Most of all I’d like to thank Nathan de Garis. He helped me more than anyone else.”
Marylebone Girls School recorded its highest ever average – with 65 per cent achieving As or Bs.
Greycoat School announced 10 pupils would be going to Oxbridge – a record for the Victoria girls school.
The average results for Westminster schools recorded yesterday showed a 1.6 per cent increase at the A-C pass rate compared with 2006 and a 1 per cent increase at the A-E pass rate. |
