West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 17 August 2007

Talking news for the visually impaired

• I READ with interest the article about Mark Pampel and how he used to access local news on audio tapes (Overcoming life’s obstacles, July 27).
It may be of interest to Mr Pampel and the deafblind charity Sense – and any other visually impaired residents in Westminster – that the Westminster Talking Newspaper still exists. A team of volunteers each week read and prepare tapes of news and other selected items from West End Extra as well as all the other local newspapers. The tapes are available free and are set by the Post Office’s Articles for the Blind.
If anyone would like to receive the local news in this way, please telephone the Westminster Talking Newspaper administrator on 020 7266 1426.
