It’s never too late to learn a new trick
A SLICK send-off greeted adult learners at Westminster Kingsway College, Victoria, on Friday.
The Link In project – giving one-to-one teaching in maths and English – has drawn to a close after a year of
success.
The free course has helped hundreds of some of the most disadvantaged across London get back into work.
Somalian Noor Barke, from Ladbroke Grove, said he had struggled with English since coming to this country.
But now he has passed and is looking forward to his new job being involved in the build-up to the 2012 Olympics.
He said: “It really helped me out. This is a wonderful send-off.”
Westminster Kingsway’s finance chief Paul Lewis paid tribute to the team’s “dedicated and tireless effort”.
He added: “I am thrilled at its success.”
Education specialists working on the scheme hope the project will continue next year. |
