Huge park crowds enjoy a fair celebration of all things green

BLAZING sun shone down on thousands of fair-goers at the Green Fair in Regent’s Park on Sunday.
The fair, which also included a Bikefest, is an annual extravaganza that celebrates all things green – as well as championing breakthrough new eco gadgets.
Now in its 16th year, ever-growing numbers of people are attending.
Council figures from last year show two thirds of visitors were first-timers.
About 25,000 people turned up on Sunday – a record one eighth of the borough’s population.
But while most of the day is geared towards having a fun day out, there was a serious side too, as the many stalls and advisers on hand to give help with cutting household carbon footprints proved. Wendy Baverstock from charity Groundwork said: “We gave out free
drought-resistant gardens and to our surprise we had completely run out by 4pm.
It really was the most successful Green Fair and Bikefest yet.”
