30 arrests in hate-crime blitz

DETECTIVES made 14 arrests last Thursday in a crackdown on hate crimes.
Metropolitan Police officers swooped on targeted addresses across Westminster to coincide with the International Day Against Homophobia.
The offences included assault, ABH, GBH, criminal damage and witness intimidation.
The dawn raids were aimed at putting “the fear back on to the offender”.
Hate and faith crime can include racist, homophobic, disability motivated crime, and crimes against the vulnerable or elderly by members of their own family or carers.
DCI Gerry Campbell said: “The operation was a fantastic success, which has resulted in a large number of perpetrators being arrested, prosecuted and held to account for their actions.
“This success stands testament to the courage of victims and witnesses in coming forward, and to the Metropolitan Police Service’s continued commitment to take on domestic violence and hate crime perpetrators to make London a safer place.”
