West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 1 June 2007

Phoenix will be open soon

• I AM writing with regards to the recent temporary closure of the Phoenix Garden.
Due to the collapse of the 18th-century cellars under New Compton Street, the management committee of the garden decided to close the garden last month, until checks could be completed to ensure no similar collapse would happen in the garden.
The checks should be completed by Camden Council in the next week and we will be reopened as soon as we can.
While the garden has been closed we have been working hard to refurbish the garden – renovating the south end of the garden completely and also restoring our benches.
We want to thank our visitors and local residents for their patience – and hope to welcome them back very soon.
ALEX BRAY
Chairman, The Phoenix Garden
