Police injured as they try to break up brawl

POLICE officers were left bruised and bloody after they attempted to break up a massive drunken brawl in Soho.
Two officers were hit by a car and a third was punched in the head after a patrol van spotted a street fight involving a large group of men outside the Play Room nightclub in Glasshouse Street at 3am last Tuesday.
Police tried to apprehend a man they had seen punching another man, but he jumped into a silver Audi and locked the doors. When he refused to get out, officers broke into the car with their batons.
The suspect still aggressively resisted arrest and had to be restrained with CS gas.
At the same time, two officers suffered leg injuries when they were hit by another car leaving the melee, and a sergeant had a bottle thrown at his head while someone else tried to punch him in the back of the head.
Four men in their early twenties were arrested and bailed.
