children’s laureate signs off in style

JACQUELINE Wilson signed off with a smile at her last official event as Children’s Laureate in Bloomsbury on Saturday.
The award-winning author talked about her work to a packed audience at the UCL Bloomsbury Theatre – then stayed for three more hours to sign copies of her books for eager young fans.
Ms Wilson has published more than 80 children’s books in a career spanning 35 years. She is best known as the creator of curly-haired tearaway Tracey Beaker, now a popular CBBC series.
The Children’s Laureate award is funded by the Department for Culture and administered by Booktrust, an independent national charity that encourages people of all ages to discover and enjoy reading.
Previous Laureates include Quentin Blake, Michael Morpurgo and Anne Fine.
