West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 27 April 2007

Bomb proof idea

YOUR article US Embassy ‘ticking bomb’ (April 20) highlights the problems associated with having defensive measures built within a dense urban area.
The new walls and lengthy queues are a major disruption to this portion of Mayfair and the embassy is becoming an ugly fortress.
The US ambassador’s formal residence is in Regent’s Park: why not swap it with the Embassy? This would be much simpler to protect and would avoid all the disruptive works currently being undertaken.
And queuing up by the Rose Garden for visa applications would be eminently more agreeable!
