MCC honours ‘Johnners’ once more

THE late, great cricket commentator Brian Johnston was honoured by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) on Wednesday.
The commemoration took place at the Westminster Society for People with Learning Disabilities, in Croxley Road, St John’s Wood, which ‘Johnners’ supported.
Mr Johnston’s life and career and his support for the Westminster Society was originally commemorated with a planting of a tree and the installation of a plaque.
But last year the tree died and the MCC realised the plaque failed to mention both his main honours – a CBE and the Military Cross.
The club planted a new tree and a updated plaque was officially unveiled.
Attending were Brian Johnston’s widow Pauline (pictured), Virginia Villiers, Vice-Chairwoman, Westminster Society for People with Learning Disabilities and MCC Secretary and Chief Executive Keith Bradshaw (pictured).
