A young footballer in possession during the boys’ under-12 competition
Just for kicks on £3.5m pitches

MORE than 800 young footballers took part in a two-day extravaganza including five-a-side tournaments, a kick-up competition, a crossbar challenge, and hardest kick and best skills challenges.
It was the first major tournament to take place on three new pitches since the £3.5million development of the site in Randolph Avenue.
The event was organised by the council using the website Myspace to contact teenagers. Shops, businesses, the Metropolitan Police, Cannons, the Football Foundation, AMB Sports and housing associations all contributed.
Paddington’s London Tigers won the football tournament.
Labour councillor Barrie Taylor said: “Many residents have limited access to outdoor space, which contributes to higher levels of child obesity, and having open access to good sport and leisure facilities, such as those at Padd’ Rec’, is of great benefit to us all.”
