Thames Water pledges solution

THAMES Water has pledged to restore a supply to a block of flats after four years of misery caused by service interruptions.
The long-running saga in Ilbert Street has forced residents forced to bathe as late as 4am, do their washing in neighbours’ flats and has left them without heating since 2003.
The problems have continued because City West Homes, the company in charge of social housing in Westminster, and Thames Water refused to accept responsibility.
At a meeting on Thursday night, residents and councillors said it was time to stop wrangling and appealled for compensation.
The committee heard how one mother of four at the flats regularly resorted to bathing her children in the middle of the night when the water pressure was at its strongest.
Thames Water said it was considering reimbursing the residents’ bills.
A spokesman said the company would fix the problem and report back to the council later his month.
