Neighbours celebrate new social centre
A NEIGHBOURHOOD regeneration scheme took a great step forward yesterday with the launch of a new crime-fighting and social support centre in Lisson Grove.
Karen Buck, Labour MP for Kensington North and Regent’s Park, joined forces with the Tory leader of Westminster Council Sir Simon Milton for the official champagne opening of the Church Street Neighbourhood Office. Police, safer neighbourhood teams and city guardians will all work together in the new building, part of a £350,000 a year scheme to transform the Church Street area.
Ms Buck said: “People are saying it’s making a great difference to the quality of life. I think it’s been a really effective way of bringing together all the different services that work in the community.”
