Mantra is a real find which really stands out from the chains and overpriced eateries that populate Dean Street - a traditional Asian setting with a Western flair. The menu is 100% vegetarian although the clientele isn't – they go for the tasty, well-priced food which offers an interesting alternative to many other restaurants around the area.

The setting is classy and authentic yet cosy and comfortable and is the perfect venue for families and friends. The music varies from commercial pop and R and B to Asian Fusion and House.

The menu does not represent your average “curry-house” menu. The food is represented by different parts of India, including Gujarat, Delhi and Bangalore and there is a blend of Asian and Western influences that work really well. Mantra is 100% vegetarian and the menu lists creative dishes such as Curried Bombay Potato in Pitta Bread lined with Chutney, as well as traditional meals such as Saag Aloo and Palak Paneer. The Vegetarian Chicken Curry is fantastic. Try the Bhindi Masala - Okra Curry made in a North Indian style with grounded onions and tomatoes – it’s fabulous!

Goan beer goes extremely well with all Mantra’s dishes. It has a good frothy head and its low in sweetness, so why not indulge when you pay this Taste London eatery a visit. You can also end your meal with a quality coffee from the Gaggia which is something you don’t get in many Indian restaurants.

If you fancy some reasonably priced and different Indian food when in Soho, it’s certainly worth making a visit to Mantra.
