NIGHT IN THE MUSEUM TWO
Directed by Shawn Levy; certificate PG

THIS watchable piece of kiddie escapism sees the action move from a museum of natural history to the Smithsonian Institute in Washington.
As you will remember from the first instalment, once the last of the visitors click their way out through the turnstiles, the displays take over.
Ben Stiller takes on the role as Larry the night watchman and again has some serious issues with artefacts.
Since part one, we learn he has quit his post at the New York Museum of Natural History and is now inventing things. But when the museum closes for a refit, and his friendly exhibits are shipped to Washington to be stored, he must head to the capital to stop evil and long dead Pharoah Kamunrah (Hank Azaria) from raising an army of the dead and taking over the world.
There is a grand band of actors popping up to help him: Brit comics Ricky Gervais and Steve Coogan join Owen Wilson and Robin Williams,
while a well-cast Christopher Guest fills the not inconsiderable boots of Ivan the Terrible.
Sadly, the whole thing has more gaps than a dino skeleton, but it shouldn’t bother the youngsters this mild and occasionally humourous fare is aimed at.
