ROLL UP! One of the classic films of the immediate post-war British cinema is being shown on Sunday – and it is free for people under-16.
Hue and Cry was the first comedy produced by the Ealing Studios, and set a standard for British comedy.
The story revolves around a gang of working-class children living among the ruins of London’s docklands. They discover their favourite comic strip is being used by a master criminal to pass on instructions for heists and decide to foil his plans.
Directed by Charles Crighton, it boasts in the cast such British acting stalwarts as Alastair Sim, Jack Warner, Harry Fowler and Valerie White.
