City Swimmers
THE film which captures the bitter fight by Hampstead Heath swimmers to safeguard free access to the ponds is due to be screened this Sunday at the Renoir Cinema, the Brunswick Centre, Bloomsbury.
City Swimmers records the day-to-day campaign by regulars at the ponds to overturn a decision by the body which used to be known as the Corporation of London to start charging for pond dips – or face closing the ponds.
Filmmaker Margaret Dickinson, who lives in South End Green, and Jane Shallice, the chair of the Kenwood Ladies Pond Association will be hosting a question and answer session following the screening.

• The final week of the Jewish Film Festival also offers some delectable treats. Among the films on show is the award winning Family Law. In Spanish with English subtitles, it is the story of a lawyer who is fighting to break away from his fathers influence.
Areil Perelman works for the justice department representing people in their absence. His father, also a lawyer, earns a living defending petty criminals.
Ariel’s rather dry job is made bearable by the appearance on the scene of a wife who gives him a child – forcing him to come to terms with his own incomplete relationship with his father.
Family Law is showing at 6.30pm on Thursday November 9 at Screen On The Hill.
