The Review - AT THE MOVIES with WILLIAM HALL

Recovery from 9/11

REIGN OVER ME
Directed by Mike Binder
Certificate 15

ADAM Sandler plays a New York dentist who has never recovered from the deaths of his wife and daughters in 9/11.
He has become a loner, blotting out memories of family and friends, and taking refuge in endless video games which he plays day and night.
A former college friend (Don Cheadle) runs into him and sets out to help his old buddy, finding a new purpose in his own dull life on the way. No fault with the acting, embracing shades of Rain Man and a touch of Midnight Cowboy, but it is all too s-l-o-w and too long (124 minutes), despite Mike Binder’s sharply observed direction.
