Area/Ward:

Kilburn

Kilburn’s vibrancy springs from its diverse communities, in particular, the large numbers of Irish who settled here after the terrible potato famine of the 1840’s. Today, there are many Irish drinking places to explore, in particular along Kilburn High Road, along with numerous other bars, clubs and live music venues. Kilburn High Road was well traversed even in Roman times (then known as Watling Street) and some of the pubs sited there can trace their roots back to the medieval age. Cultural attractions in the area are the award-winning Tricycle Theatre, the London Jewish art museum the Ben Uri gallery and the Kingsgate workshops and gallery.
