Penalties
will not be enforced
• During the week before Easter, the National
Grid yet again closed Well Walk in the ward I represent to do
works to their ancient underground cable.
Residents who have now had to hunt around for alternative parking
spaces six times in the last 12 years will pleased to know that
the National Grid has finally bowed to pressure and said it
intends to renew the cable over the next four years.
However, throughout that period, southbound traffic going through
New End Square was “trapped” there and effectively
forced to disobey the no entry restriction to Willow Road and
Gayton Road.
Unfortunately, the first day (Monday 10 April) was also a day
when Camden had a CCTV car in New End Square to catch offenders
and several hundred drivers will have been caught on film.
Senior officers have agreed with me that this was unfair and
have assured me they will not enforce penalties for that period.
Nevertheless, errors do occur.
So if any reader does receive a ticket for this offence during

ensuring Camden keep their promise and cancel it.
