All lit up for Dickens of a time in festive run-up

ACTRESS Michelle Collins will turn on Archway’s lights today (Friday).
The switch-on at Archway Library, in Archway Mall, at 4.50pm, will be accompanied by carols from Jackson Lane Arts Centre singers.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Santa will join a Dickens extravaganza at Camden Passage..
Traders in the Passage will dress in Victorian costume, and the popular Billingsgate Barnstormers will perform a version of A Christmas Carol.
St Luke’s Choral Ensemble and the Jubilee Community Singers will entertain shoppers in the Passage at regular intervals throughout the afternoon from noon.
The fun will be focused on Chapel Market tomorrow, where there will be face painting and a roving Father Christmas handing out tokens which can be redeemed for free popcorn and candy floss.
The Angel lights will be switched on at 5pm on Saturday at Camden Passage. The prize for best-dressed window is to be announced at 7pm.
On Tuesday, St Luke’s Choral Ensemble will present excerpts from Messiah at the Passage, and over the rest of the week Highbury Girls Choir, St Mary’s Choir, Islington, and singers from Islington Chinese Association will entertain shoppers.
Christine Lovett, director of Angel Business Improvement District, who helped organise the event, said she expected it to be the best ever.
“If you are looking for that really unique gift, then come to Camden Passage and Chapel Market and have a great shopping experience.”
Other Christmas lights switch-ons are at Essex Road on Wednesday, at a time to be confirmed, and Whitecross Street on Thursday between 3.30pm and 5pm
