Highbury Stadium footpath to open soon

A PUBLIC footpath through Highbury Square – the former Arsenal football ground which has been turned into an exclusive £150-million development – is expected to open shortly.
Developers are working on drainage problems on the site of the path between Highbury Hill and Avenell Road where there are 724 homes.
Local Green councillor Katie Dawson said the path was promised as part of the conditions for the site and that she was looking forward to the opening.
“It will mean that pedestrians won’t have to make a 15-minute detour,” she said.
An Islington Council spokesman said: “The developers have told us that there are some drainage problems with the footpath. Ongoing works are taking place to correct this which is why it isn’t currently open as it should be.
“Our planners are in touch with Arsenal to make sure this is put right and the footpath is opened to the public as soon as possible.”
