Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 30 October 2009

Don’t rub out lettering

• OUR excellent St Peter’s councillor, Martin Klute, deplores the projected destruction of the well-sculpted lettering on the Upper Street side of the old Mall building, now sadly gutted (Final insult to The Mall, October 23).
I believe it is to be replaced by yet another bland clothes shop for under-24s with its title on the outside.
From the protest meetings I seem to remember that the exterior of the building, being listed, was to be left intact. That would include the lettering, which could be left and, if they must, the store title placed between the two originals.
